CHF #57S Super Immun Multi 360 Capsules is a multivitamin and mineral formula with a large blend of extras, from CoQ10 and echinacea to pine bark and grape seed extracts. Here is what research shows about its key ingredients.
Full ingredient list (per 4 capsules): vitamin A (as palmitate and beta-carotene) 1,000 mcg; vitamin C (as ascorbate and acerola) 100 mg; calcium 162 mg; vitamin D3 12 mcg; vitamin E (d-alpha-tocopheryl succinate) 9 mg; thiamine 8 mg; riboflavin (R-5-P) 8 mg; niacin (niacin and niacinamide) 12 mg; vitamin B6 (P-5-P) 12 mg; folate 408 mcg DFE (L-methylfolate 240 mcg); vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin) 120 mcg; biotin 32 mcg; pantothenic acid 38 mg; iodine (from kelp) 75 mcg; magnesium 82 mg; zinc 6.6 mg; selenium (L-selenomethionine) 26 mcg; copper 0.296 mg; manganese 1.5 mg; chromium (GTF) 16 mcg; potassium 27 mg; choline 13 mg; inositol 15 mg; proprietary blend 1,435 mg of coenzyme Q10, methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), probiotic blend 1 billion CFU (Bacillus coagulans, B. subtilis, B. clausii), betaine HCl, pancreatin, spirulina, ginger root extract, Echinacea purpurea extract, maritime pine bark extract, grape seed extract, citrus bioflavonoids, trace mineral/cell salt complex, acerola berry extract, and black pepper fruit extract (piperine). Other ingredients: microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, silica, gelatin. The label suggests 4 capsules twice daily, so a full day is 8 capsules, double the amounts above.
What does the multivitamin panel provide?
The foundation of CHF #57S is a full multivitamin and mineral panel, with active forms of several nutrients, including L-methylfolate, methylcobalamin (B12), P-5-P (B6), R-5-P (riboflavin), and selenium as L-selenomethionine. One encouraging line of research comes from COSMOS: the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS) reports that three COSMOS sub-studies of more than 5,000 older adults found that taking a daily multivitamin/mineral supplement for 1 to 3 years helped maintain or improve memory and overall cognition.
At the full 8-capsule dose, CHF #57S provides 2,000 mcg of vitamin A, 24 mg of B6, 240 mcg of B12, 150 mcg of iodine (exactly the adult RDA), 13.2 mg of zinc, and 52 mcg of selenium. All of these stay below the adult upper limits set by the National Academies.
What does CoQ10 do?
Coenzyme Q10 is a substance naturally present in the body, with the highest levels in the heart, liver, kidneys, and pancreas, according to NCCIH. Because CoQ10 has important functions in the body, it has drawn wide research interest.
One of the most studied uses is for people who take statins. A 2018 meta-analysis of 12 randomized trials with 575 patients found that CoQ10 supplementation eased statin-associated muscle symptoms, including pain, weakness, and cramps, and the authors described it as a possible complementary approach. NCCIH reports no serious side effects from CoQ10.
How does echinacea support the immune system?
Echinacea purpurea is a flowering plant in the daisy family and one of the most popular herbs for seasonal immune support. NCCIH says that taking echinacea may slightly reduce your chances of catching a cold, and that it is likely safe for most adults when used short term. In CHF #57S, it adds a traditional immune herb to the vitamin C, zinc, selenium, and vitamin D already in the multivitamin panel.
What do maritime pine bark and grape seed extract do?
Maritime pine bark extract is rich in bioflavonoids, mainly proanthocyanidins, which are antioxidants. Grape seed extract, made from the seeds of wine grapes, contains a similar family of compounds. NCCIH notes there are some well-controlled studies of grape seed extract for cholesterol and blood pressure. A 2022 meta-analysis of 19 trials found it lowered diastolic blood pressure by about 2.2 mmHg and reduced heart rate, and NCCIH describes a 2020 review of 11 studies in which grape seed extract had desirable effects on LDL cholesterol and triglycerides. NCCIH says grape seed extract is generally well tolerated.
Why is piperine included, and what is MSM?
Piperine, the compound that gives black pepper its bite, is known as a bioavailability enhancer. A 2018 review explains that piperine influences the enzymes and transporters that process many compounds, which is why it is added to help the body absorb other ingredients.
MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) is a sulfur compound that is popular for joint comfort. A 2017 review reports that MSM supplementation has improved outcomes such as joint and muscle pain, inflammation, oxidative stress, and antioxidant capacity, and that MSM is well tolerated at up to 4 g a day. The blend also includes 1 billion CFU of Bacillus probiotics, betaine HCl, pancreatin, spirulina, ginger, citrus bioflavonoids, and acerola.
How do these ingredients work together?
CHF #57S is designed as an all-in-one daily formula: a multivitamin and mineral base with active nutrient forms, plus CoQ10, antioxidant-rich pine bark and grape seed, immune-supporting echinacea, MSM, probiotics, digestive aids, and piperine to help absorption. Taking 4 capsules twice a day spreads these nutrients across the day.
Who might enjoy it: adults who want a single comprehensive multivitamin with added botanicals and antioxidants in place of several separate products.
Who should check with a clinician first?
Because CHF #57S contains many ingredients, please check with your clinician or pharmacist first if you:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding, as the label advises.
- Take blood thinners such as warfarin, or insulin (NCCIH notes CoQ10 may interact with both), immunosuppressants (echinacea), or other prescription drugs, since piperine can change how the body processes some medications.
- Smoke, used to smoke, or have been exposed to asbestos. The USPSTF advises against beta-carotene supplements for these groups because of lung cancer risk.
- Have a thyroid condition (iodine from kelp), or are allergic to plants in the daisy family (echinacea).
- Already take another multivitamin, to avoid doubling up.
